Nation’s largest bubble tea chain coming to Cumberland County

Kung Fu Tea is based in Queens, New York and is expanding into the Harrisburg region.

The nation’s largest bubble tea chain is inching closer to the Harrisburg region.

At least two Kung Fu Tea locations are listed as “coming soon” on the brand’s website, although no opening dates have been announced.

The shops, both in Cumberland County, are online to open at 3401 Hartzdale Drive in Lower Allen Township and 6416 Carlisle Pike in Silver Spring Township, according to the website.

The chain was founded in 2010 in Queens, New York. With more than 350 locations, it is the largest bubble tea brand and specializes in bubble tea, also known as boba milk tea, pearl milk tea or boba.

The Taiwanese drink was invented in the 1980s and combines tea with milk and fruits topped with tapioca pearls. The drinks are served in oversized cups with thick straws.

The closest Kung Fu Teas locations are in York and Lancaster counties.

Kung Fu Tea also sells other tea drinks as well as slushies, milk teas, punches and coffee drinks. Popular menu items include Kung Fu Milk Tea, Taro Slush, Honey Oolong Tea, Strawberry Milk and Cocoa Cream Wow Milk Cap.
